Privacy Policy – Histo Trivia

Histo Trivia (“Histo Trivia,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a histology education and quiz application available as a web app and an Android app on the Google Play Store. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through the app, how we use it, how it may be shared, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using Histo Trivia, you agree to the collection and use of information described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you should not use the app.

We collect information that you provide directly and information generated automatically when you use the app:

• Account and profile information — such as your email address, name, and display name, and avatar or profile information where you choose to provide it.
• Game, learning and usage data — questions attempted, practiced questions, incorrect answers, categories studied, scores, correct-answer counts, total questions, difficulty, best streak, time taken, and game/challenge history and results.
• Device and technical information — country, operating system, device type, referrer information, and app/session activity recorded by the app.
• Social and multiplayer information — friend requests, friend codes, user/display names, email addresses used for friend and group functionality, groups and group membership/activity, group messages, group notifications, and challenge information and scores.
• User-generated content and feedback — group message content, survey ratings, enjoyment responses, improvement suggestions, and other feedback you submit.
• Sponsor interactions — sponsor names and URLs and sponsor-click information recorded by the app when you interact with sponsor links.

We do not knowingly collect additional personal information beyond what is described above.

When you register, we create an account tied to your email address. You may also provide a name, display name, and avatar or profile information. Your email address is used to identify your account, to enable social features (such as friend requests, challenges, and group invitations), and to send the notification emails described in this policy. You can opt out of notification emails from the Settings screen at any time.

As you play, the app records information about your activity so it can display your progress, history, statistics, and rankings. This includes the questions you attempt, which questions you have practiced, which answers were incorrect, the categories you study, your scores, correct-answer counts, total questions answered, selected difficulty, best streak, time taken per round, and your game and challenge history and results.

When you play a round, the app records limited device and technical information to help us understand usage and improve the service. This may include your country (derived from your device/locale), operating system, device type (for example, mobile, tablet, or desktop), referrer information, and app or session activity. This information is associated with your game sessions.

Histo Trivia includes social features. When you use them, the app processes information about your connections and interactions, including friend requests, friend codes, user and display names, and the email addresses of users you interact with for friend and group functionality. For groups, the app records group membership and activity, group messages, and group notifications. For challenges, the app records challenge information and scores. Other users you interact with may be able to see the name, display name, score, and activity associated with your account within those social features.

You can create content within the app, including group message content, survey ratings, enjoyment responses, improvement suggestions, and other feedback you submit. Group messages are visible to other members of the relevant group. Feedback you submit is used to understand and improve the app. You should avoid sharing personal or sensitive information in group messages or feedback.

The app may invite you to complete in-app surveys, including an overall rating, an enjoyment response, and optional free-text improvement suggestions. Survey responses are stored and used to evaluate and improve the app. Survey submissions are voluntary.

The app may display sponsor branding and links to external websites. When you tap or click a sponsor link, the app records the sponsor name and URL and the fact that the click occurred. Links to external websites take you outside the app; those third-party websites have their own privacy practices and are not covered by this Privacy Policy.

We use the information we collect to:

• create and manage your account and authenticate you;
• operate the quizzes, track your progress, and display your history, statistics, and rankings;
• provide social features such as friends, groups, challenges, group messages, and notifications;
• send study reminders, challenge invitations, streak congratulations, and other notification emails (unless you opt out);
• process any purchases you make within the app;
• display sponsor branding and record sponsor-link interactions;
• analyze usage, monitor errors, and improve the app’s features, performance, and stability; and
• respond to feedback and support requests.

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as described in this policy:

• With other users — limited information such as your display name, score, and activity is visible to other users within social features you participate in (for example, groups, friends, and leaderboards).
• With service providers — we use third-party service providers that process information on our behalf as described in the “Service Providers” section below.
• For safety, legal, and operational reasons — we may access, preserve, or disclose information when we believe it is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of users or others, to enforce our terms, or to comply with legal obligations.

We do not share your information for advertising purposes or with third-party advertising networks.

The app relies on the following categories of third-party service providers:

• Base44 — Histo Trivia is built on the Base44 platform, which provides the app’s backend infrastructure, including user authentication, database storage, file storage, email delivery, and application hosting. Your account and app data are stored and processed on Base44’s infrastructure.
• Stripe — where you make a purchase within the app (for example, a premium upgrade), payment processing is handled by Stripe. Stripe processes your payment information subject to Stripe’s own privacy and security practices; we do not store your full card details.
• Google Sheets — administrators of the app may use an optional feature to export aggregated analytics data to a Google Sheet connected to the app. This is an administrative feature and is used to review usage statistics.
• Sign-in providers — if a third-party sign-in option (such as Google) is enabled and you choose to use it, that provider processes your sign-in credentials in accordance with its own privacy policy.

These providers may process information as necessary to deliver their services. We do not knowingly authorize them to use your information for their own unrelated purposes.

Your account and app data are stored on the Base44 platform’s infrastructure. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to help protect your information. However, no system or method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We retain your account and activity data for as long as your account is active and for as long as needed to provide the features described in this policy. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time as described below. We may retain limited information where required for legitimate operational, security, or legal reasons.

You have choices regarding your information, including:

• Account and profile — you can update your profile information from within the app.
• Email notifications — you can opt out of all notification emails from the Settings screen at any time.
• Sound, haptics, and language — you can adjust these preferences from the Settings screen.
• Account and data deletion — you can request deletion of your account and associated personal data as described in the next section.

You can delete your account and request deletion of your associated personal data directly from within the app. To do so, open Settings, scroll to the Delete Account option, and confirm the deletion. This removes your game sessions, friend records, friend codes, challenges, groups you host, your membership in groups, group notifications, group messages you sent, practiced questions, incorrect answers, surveys, and sponsor-click records associated with your account, and attempts to delete your user record.

After deletion, you will be signed out. Some information may remain in limited circumstances where retention is required for legitimate operational, security, or legal reasons. Histo Trivia is intended for users who are [MINIMUM USER AGE IF REQUIRED] or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children younger than the applicable minimum age. The app contains links to external websites, including sponsor websites. Those websites are not operated by us and have their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of third-party websites. When you leave the app, your information is governed by the third party’s privacy policy.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Material changes will take effect when posted. Your continued use of the app after a change indicates your acceptance of the updated policy.
